SLP_RDS The SLP_RDS coverage is a line coverage created from the integration of roads (lines) and average slope class for the Upper Applegate sub-watershed. It enhances the information available in the road coverage with the addition of an average percent slope by road segment. Percent slope indicates the slope of the terrain on which the road segment sits. It does not indicate the slope of the road itself. The source data for roads is the Rogue National Forest Transportation System database. The source data for slope is a polygon coverage with slope in eight classses, derived from 30 meter Digital Elevation Models. This data is very general and should not be relied on for site-specific analysis. ___________________________________ Descriptions of principal variables: LENGTH Total length of road segment in meters GRID_CODE -- Slope in eight classes 0 -- Flat 15 -- 0-15% 30 -- 15-30% 45 -- 30-45% 60 -- 45-60% 75 -- 60-75% 90 -- 75-90% 999 -- 90% plus ---------------------- Percent slope is an expression of the steepness of slope. It indicates the vertical rise in elevation per unit of horizontal distance. For example: 30% slope indicates a 30 foot rise in elevation for every 100 feet of horizontal distance. ---------------------- ________________________________________________________________ Slope descriptions can be linked to the coverage via the look-up table: SLOPE_LK.dbf ________________________________________________________________
